Were you aware that many students experience a decline in reading skills of a month or more during the summer break? Fortunately, by keeping children engaged with books, we can prevent this decline and ensure their academic growth continues.

This summer, we’re implementing some reading requirements for all students from Kindergarten(K5) to Sixth grade to continue growth in reading. Each grade level will have specific age-appropriate reading goals. We encourage you to collaborate with your child to make this summer reading experience enjoyable. Summer reading assignments will be given to the classroom teacher during the first week of school. 

Please note that AR quizzes cannot be completed over the summer break. However, students can take these quizzes upon their return in the first week of school. While these points won’t count towards their first-quarter goal, they will contribute to the total for the 2024-2025 school year.

After School Care Information and Sign-up

If your child is absent from school in grades 7-12 and attends our Tilden Campus, email attendance@sooofa.net. Indicate your student’s name, grade level, date of absence, and the reason for the absence.

If your child is absent from school in grades PK3 – 6th and attends our Plant Street Campus, send a written excuse to the homeroom teacher and send a written excuse to Nurse Megan at megan.englebert@sooofa.net. Indicate your student’s name, grade level, date of absence, and the reason for the absence.

If your child is absent from school in grades K – 6th and attends our Lakeside Campus, send a written excuse to the homeroom teacher and send a written excuse to Amanda Donaho at amanda.donaho@sooofa.net. Indicate your student’s name, grade level, date of absence, and the reason for the absence.

A valid excuse is due within 24 hours of the student’s return to school.
